Savanna Pettengill is a photographer and arts educator from Portland, Maine. She holds a BFA in Photography from Maine College of Art, and an M.S.Ed from Brooklyn College. She is most inspired by the ideas of perception, the science of light energy and its reactions with physical surfaces, the natural world and the notion of what makes community. She carries her vision into the classroom to empower future young leaders to visually tell their own stories ethically and effectively. Her commercial work focuses on helping others tell their stories honestly and memorably. Her fine art portfolio is a collective gathering of her spontaneous and subconscious reactions to her surroundings, woven together into visual narratives about the beauty and traumas of life, here on Earth.

Reviews:

"Her photography is like captive sparks of celebration. There is an energy about her work that feels like a mystery, one that we are all somehow connected to. You can feel there is a secret you're running with her to find or to hide it. Light in corners, shadows on the beach, out of doors in all seasons. She manages to capture the essence of life and liveliness with excitement, sadness and the constant ebb and flow of their simultaneous beauty."

“In the 4 years that I have come to known Ms.Pettengill I have seen how honest, hard-working, and caring she is when it comes to teaching [photography]. She is full of knowledge in every aspect and will fully commit to making her students feel comfortable and understood.”
